I no longer have any since it has been dumbed down, but maybe I will find a nice vintage bottle soon.

You are so right about it being a chypre, I guess that part was completely left out of the marketing materials. It's really a Rose Chypre like Paloma Picasso, though far more wearable. Those Bulgarian roses are in there, unable to be separated from the rest of the notes, but glowing like embers to cast a halo around everything else. It was the first perfume I ever smelled where I finally understood what roses can do in perfume even when they are not the star of the show.Florahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00510346346502906435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8848082798225294725.post-4268268133566824832009-11-04T10:34:45.289-05:002009-11-04T10:34:45.289-05:00Thanks for reading, Ketutar (I like your gravatar!...Thanks for reading, Ketutar (I like your gravatar!).

It's not galbanum. That's there, of course, but I know what that smells like, and what I'm talking about isn't that. It's something sharp and savory, like a cooking herb.

Is Magie NOire a favorite of yours?Mals86https://www.blogger.com/profile/09757305840611623427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8848082798225294725.post-84055836473359372652009-11-04T05:48:07.417-05:002009-11-04T05:48:07.417-05:00"And although it's not listed, I seem to ..."And although it's not listed, I seem to smell something quite herbal, like coriander, in the top notes"
Could be galbanum. It comes from a plant related to coriander, fennel, and such.
I like your story of the scent :-)Ketutarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17817006362006690145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8848082798225294725.post-66305497532506751002009-11-03T13:56:14.660-05:002009-11-03T13:56:14.660-05:00What an amazing recount of what a special scent ca...What an amazing recount of what a special scent can do to a woman!! I am ever so happy I found your venue (had no idea)!
And yes, MN is something of an enigma, poised as she is between oriental and chypre. It's definitely quite woody in scent!Perfumeshrinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06222733129203280662noreply@blogger.com
